How Did I Start Koro in 2020?

Even though I am a serial entrepreneur and investor, a lot of people know me as Chairwoman & CEO of Koro. This company is providing healthy water solutions for Vietnam families and global citizens. Surely, the reason why I started Koro is an interesting question that many people are curious about.

Start with my first company

Before sharing about Koro, let me share with you my entrepreneurship passion. When I was a student in high school and university, I was always looking for ways to help me to develop and be a better version of myself. So when I was a third year student, I started to think about what I needed to do after graduation. I wanted to work as well as to grow at the same time. And besides growing myself, I was also thinking about how I could develop people around me.

I decided to start IMAS Marketing Partner in 2010 with the motto “great communication can make the world better”. IMAS stands for Integrated Marketing, Authentic Solution. We had some successful milestones with big clients. IMAS was also a board member of MMA (Mobile Marketing Association) and Go Group, an Asia largest independent PR network. But in 2015, I understood that this company hit the ceiling. This can be a good company, but can not be a great company. 

Self development is the key for success

My new journey started with a full time self-leadership program or Vietnam Zen at the end of 2015. If I could not lead myself, then I could not lead others. After learning this program, I found the solution to help people improve self-leadership ability which was the key of successful entrepreneurs and startup investors. I started Proself Angel, an angel investment group that can help startups and investors decrease the rate of failure. IMAS was restarted with a new strategy to support startups with marketing experts in 2017. Both companies are based on building the employer’s ability and integrity in the business environment. 

Caring about people health

In 2019, while working in the startup and marketing industry, I saw some market problems about the water industry. 

Firstly, water is the key and center in health improvement, but not many people understand about water. For example, we not only drink water for our body, we drink water for our cells. The cell loves the hexagon or small molecule of water. Some science reports show that if you drink 5 glasses of normal water, only 1 glass of water can go into the cell. 

Secondly, there is not a one-type-fits-all kind of water filter, as not every filter type will reduce every contaminant. Water purifiers were sold as normal/ casual products, not as a solution.  However, if you truly want to solve your water problem and choose the right water purifier, you need to understand your water’s problem. If you have city water, your water supplier may give you its most current water quality report. If you’re on a private well, you may consider testing your water at a nearby lab.*

Thirdly, a lot of water purifier company does not care about the right material for water treatment. In fact, currently in the market there are materials used for filters such as BPA or coal with higher ratios than allowed which can even make water more polluted. 

Finally, not many companies/experts invest in providing healthy drinking water. Magnetic water in Vietnam is too expensive, it is about 4 USD-8 USD/liter. So not many people can use that healthy water. 

60 percent of our body weight is made up of water. Our bodies use water in all the cells, organs, and tissues, to help regulate body temperature and maintain other bodily functions. Some science reports emphasize that “As undoubtedly the most important nutrient and the only one whose absence will be lethal within days, understanding of water measurement and requirements are very important.”** So this problem is really painful, and people’s lives will be better if we know how to care for drinking water. That pushed me to start Koro for solving market problems.

Fulfill my vision with Koro

This company’s mission is to research, develop and to manufacture healthy water to provide to Vietnam families and global citizens. At the present, Koro is focusing on providing magnetic water treatment that can help restructure water to hexagonal clusters, same as natural water or water in our body. 

The full solution for health is Mind – Heart – Energy – Water – Nutrition. Starting the company with such mission helps me to at some extent resolve this pain for customers; as well as to fulfill my passion: helping people to live a happier and healthier life.

In short, I strongly believe that Koro will be successful organization because:

Firstly, Koro has a big market potential and customer needs. Water is important for people, from children to adults. If we can provide magnetic water to only 7.3% urban population in Vietnam, it can bring about expected revenue of more than $92.5 million.

Secondly, Koro will not only be a business brand which only sells products. It will also be a trusted friend who treats customers with kindness; a passionate advisor who provides sincere advice and knowledge about the most important essence of their body: WATER. With the direct to customer (D2C) model, Koro can build great relationships with customers. They would not only be our buyer, they would also become our fans. The more fans Koro has, the more brand value Koro generates.
